Shenzhen Airport says pre-inspection is cutting arrival clearance time for most inbound passengers
A Shenzhen government report dated August 18 says Bao'an Airport's international arrival area now screens checked baggage before pickup, reducing customs-clearance time for passengers with no baggage anomalies from about 45 minutes to roughly 15 minutes.
Shenzhen Government Online reported on August 18 that Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport has introduced a pre-inspection system in its international arrival area. The official article says X-ray and CT baggage inspection equipment has been integrated into the luggage sorting line so that checked bags can be screened before passengers collect them.
The report says customs can use intelligent image analysis to identify higher-risk baggage while most other luggage is released directly. According to the source, what used to take around 45 minutes for inbound customs clearance can now take roughly 15 minutes for passengers whose baggage shows no anomalies.
For medical travelers, the practical value is shorter and less physically demanding arrival processing after a long flight. That may matter for patients arriving for consultations, rehabilitation stays, or checkups, but it is still an airport-clearance update rather than a promise about every trip, and travelers should allow for case-by-case checks, flight peaks, and onward transport timing.
