Shanghai announces expanded maternity insurance coverage from October
A new Shanghai policy describes covered maternity services for eligible people enrolled in the city’s basic medical insurance.

Shanghai’s healthcare-security authority says that, from October 1, eligible people covered by the city’s basic medical insurance may receive expanded maternity-insurance payment for specified services at designated institutions. The published policy describes a maternity medical package from prenatal record establishment through a postpartum check-up, subject to its conditions.
This is a local insurance-policy update, not a statement of eligibility for overseas visitors or a clinical recommendation. International patients should ask a licensed provider and the relevant insurer which services, documents, payment methods and appointment arrangements apply before making travel or care plans.
