Patient Q&A: Can Hainan's visa-free policy cover a short medical visit?
China's National Immigration Administration lists medical treatment among the permitted short-term reasons for the Hainan 30-day visa-free policy for citizens of the named 61 countries, subject to all current conditions.

According to the National Immigration Administration's policy page, citizens holding ordinary passports from 61 named countries may enter Hainan visa-free for up to 30 days for short-term reasons including medical treatment, provided they meet the policy's conditions. The page says the permitted area is Hainan Province and the calculation of stay begins at 00:00 on the day after entry. It also notes that people covered by a visa-exemption agreement or another Chinese visa-free policy may follow the applicable rules for that policy.
This is a general policy summary, not an immigration determination or a confirmation of hospital admission. Before booking travel, check nationality, passport, purpose, permitted area, ports of entry, stay calculation and any later rule changes directly with the National Immigration Administration, a Chinese embassy or consulate, and the relevant carrier. Separately, confirm any appointment and service requirements with the licensed medical institution.
