Industry update
Guangdong's free intercity airport-transfer program can simplify multi-city medical trip planning
The Guangzhou government's July 20 update says China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines launched a free intercity transfer service from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Qingyuan, Huizhou and Zhaoqing, with Shenzhen to follow later.

According to Guangzhou's July 20 government notice, eligible passengers on China Southern or China Eastern flights can claim one complimentary one-way intercity rail ticket per journey through the airlines' app-based travel sections. The service links Baiyun Airport's terminals with six Guangdong cities and is expected to expand further.
For international patients, the useful point is regional flexibility. A traveler can arrive through Guangzhou and continue more easily to another Pearl River Delta city for a consultation, health check, rehabilitation stay, or family support arrangement without building a separate transfer plan from scratch.
Eligibility still depends on the airline's published route and fare rules, and the service does not replace hospital confirmation or local ground-transport planning. Patients should verify directly with the carrier and the licensed institution whether the chosen flight, ticket type, and onward timetable fit their appointment needs.
