Industry update
Guangdong's new free airport-to-city transfer program can simplify onward medical travel in the Greater Bay Area
A July 17 Guangzhou International update says eligible China Southern and China Eastern passengers can claim a complimentary one-way Guangdong intercity rail transfer between Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and six cities, with Shenzhen to be added later.

Guangzhou International reported on July 17 that China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines launched a free Guangdong intercity transfer service starting July 15. The official article says the program links Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport's terminals with Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Qingyuan, Huizhou, and Zhaoqing, with Shenzhen planned for a later expansion.
The same update says eligible passengers can claim one complimentary one-way intercity rail ticket per journey through the airlines' own app sections, and that exact flight and fare eligibility remains subject to each carrier's official rules. For patients and accompanying relatives, that can reduce one layer of arrival logistics when a hospital visit, health check, or recovery stay is in another Greater Bay Area city instead of directly beside the airport.
This is a transport-support development rather than a healthcare entitlement. Travelers should still confirm the current route map, operating hours, baggage rules, and whether their hospital appointment schedule leaves enough time for the airport-to-city transfer before relying on the program.
